The turn of the dial,

A screen comes to life

bringing forth a loud intruding hum

The frantic adjustment of the antenna

looking for a signal

Turn to channel 3

channel 4

no clear picture

turn back to channel 2

now try channel 1

With each click and squelch of the dial

broken lines jolt and jump

blurs of grays and specks of blacks

the colors of a picture breaking through

all dance upon the screen

fighting for interference

face inches near screen as I search for a signal

I can feel the broken dance between them

blurs of grays, specks of blacks

pieces of a picture breaking through

soft, gentle, yet electrifying

Another careful click and squelch of the dial,

a clear image finally comes to life

I relax though short lived

as the broken lines

blurs of grays

specks of blacks break through

and dance upon the screen fighting for interference
