A dragon's night flight

She drinks deep fountains,
Water splashes down her scales,
Eyes on horizons.
Wind ripples her wings,
Altitude – the air is cool.
People sleep below.
The ones who look up
Mistake fire breaths for stars --
Shooting stars ablaze.
At last, she settles,
In a mountain shield of earth,
Enfolding her eggs.
