He wore a smile like a necklace;
Effortlessly alluring and shining bright.
Slim and sleek in frame and face,
His bespeckled blues promised delight.
Across a distant crowded stretch,
He brought sultry dreams to mind.
Such beauty insulted me (a wretch,)
With lovelorn heartache of a strange kind.
And I stared back in a hopeless daze,
Struck by such a tempting look.
Regret wrestled lust roused in his gaze;
My sense left me witless and shook.
So far away yet still close to my heart,
As they walked on by down the street.
Thus ends a romance before it could start,
Of lovers so perfect they could never meet.
