Fear Keeps Me

Acknowledging My Weakness

Fear Keeps Me

Some days I creep up on it

To the Edge of here and there

Scrape my skin, holding it together

When all that holds me here is fear

Leaning out as far as I can go

Too scared to make a full commitment

After a life, what’s there to show?

Some bitterness, joy and resentment

The thought of letting it all slip away

Brings a peace that haunts my soul

When what is waiting on the other side, may

One day take hold if I lose control

So I wipe my eyes and thank the Lord

For the fear that guards my heart

This piece of dirt that clings to all 10 toes

Has once again, saved me from the rocks
