a poem about living in the clouds

Sell me on your irresistible words,

Compliments I’m starved to hear

Such a sweet melody ringing in my ear

Only I’ve heard this song under a different moon

And it’s starting to sound a little out of tune

It seems all you have are words,

There’s no substance behind the curtain

Nothing I can hold onto that I can be certain

So I mustn’t listen to what I know isn’t real

Hold onto my heart when it starts to feel

You think it easy to worm your way inside,

Spewing drops of honey I wish were sincere

But my head knows now to filter the truth I fear

You are only made of promises, a strategic strategy

That can only play in the pretend; it's just a fantasy
