From karaoke singing and rejected covers.

You didn't give up. Your heart recovers.

Your acclaim wasn't instantaneous,

it took awhile until the world saw you as famous.

Your success partially comes from your honesty,

your fans have heard you all these years, audibly.

Through your music your personality shines brightly,

a large part of the world fell in love with you slightly.

You know how to have a good time on stage,

but you also use wisdom and know when to act your age.

The determination you have is more than inspiring,

many others desire to be like you, they are aspiring.

Your voice is sweet and breathy like a bird who sings,

through dew and rain, such joy it brings.
