Failures

A Poem

Do you call it a failure

By the fault you find in it?

Or by the colours

Which mismatches the rest of the paints

On your canvas.

Perhaps it is easy to admit that

Failure

Arises not in what we do to correct the world

But rather in how we choose to accept it.

Rather, such is the fact.

Too often, voices go quiet

And too often the sound of our conversations

Overpower those who seek salvation.

We pray for miracles

Yet we do little to create them.

We pray to be healed of heartbreak

Yet we hang onto the phone

Waiting for a reply that’s likely to never come.

We pray for good luck

Yet we forget that effort is what counts.

We pray for our trees, our rivers and our lakes

To be cured from the pains that we give them.

Yet we forget

That we have the power.

It’s only in admitting our faults

In accepting our tragedies

In rejoicing in our comedies

In loving

In hoping

In working

In reading

In listening

In teaching

In learning

In caring

In showing

In seeing

In believing

In

Knowing

That we

Are Above

The failures that we create.
