Evolution of Soulmate
And It’s Not the Fantasy We Dreamed up as Little Kids
In the first year of marriage, my definition of soulmate has evolved.
And it’s not the fantasy we dreamed up as little kids.
From the moment I met Mark, I knew he was the mate for my soul. Over the years of our relationship, we unraveled the many truths of why we are so important for each other in this life.
But it wasn’t until we were empowered in marriage that I fully understood why we are soulmates, and what that means.
A soulmate is one who perfectly pushes all of your buttons of ignorance and self-deception.
A soulmate is one that reveals all your unskillful and self-cherishing habits.
A soulmate is one that continually pokes at the faint wall that still remains around your heart.
A soulmate provides a home in which there’s nowhere to hide and nowhere to stand.
Yet this soulmate gives you the strength to stand everywhere.
This soulmate cares more about your freedom than they do your comfort.
This soulmate cares more about you living your truth than they do your conventions.
This soulmate holds space for your growth.
This soulmate holds nothing against you.
This soulmate sees you as new and fresh everyday.
This soulmate sees you as a whole human being, and can’t help but cry at the beauty and fortune of knowing you.
This soulmate sees your soul
And will promise to spend the rest of their life
Helping you remove the gunk and muck
That inhibits you
From seeing your own.
