The sun still rose the day that she didn’t
Emptiness lingering in the stuffed summer air
Rose bushes still blooming, not granting
The dignity to wilt under the widower’s glare
He shut down the curtains, solemnly grieving
Ambushed by the world that keeps spinning it’s wheels
And relit the candles, that crackled and flickered
Numb to the sense of his silent appeals
But every next day meant her legacy lasted
And every next day brought her memory grace
All lonely hearts consumed by the sorrow
Were warmed by the ghost of her loving embrace
Fates severed her string, but the fire that she started
Urged his to fight until life turns him grey
To keep the flame burning, engraving her story
And carry her love into every next day
