on thanksgiving

you asked if i wanted to try

being together again

i bought our groceries

and threw out expired

items in the

pantry

from 2012

did you feed the dogs tonight

i watered the flowers

did you take out the

recycling

we met

and you said

forty, duh

and i said i liked the way you

called

back

you FaceTimed

and I left the camera

facing

the ceiling

you took out the trash

i was in my parents' guest room

and i was filling out my

abandonment workbook

and i was reading

i love you

i hate you

don’t leave me

i burned my arm

on coffee

when i first started managing the cafe

i told a man

i was starting to see

someone

i’m barricaded in the

bathroom

running water

to drown out the

argument

i dropped twenty dollars

at work

and got written up for carelessness

i went to the doctor

and filled out a safety plan

i’m

putting on lipstick

before i go

i was drinking house beers

at Rachel’s

when i asked you out on a date

i’m an alcoholic

i never drank

you are still with

her

i burned

bridges

you asked me

if i wanted to try

i don’t drink

i don’t understand the question

you never

call

back
