In the heart's embrace, a mother's love does intertwine,
A sacred bond of love, like stars that softly shine.
With arms that link, and whispers in the night,
She cradles, shields, our spirits taking flight.
Her touch, a bridge to dreams, as moonlight softly gleams,
Bringing peace and unity, fulfilling tender dreams.
In her gaze, a constellation, a love that knows no cease,
A lighthouse in the tempest, a never-ending peace.
Through endless days and nights, with tender care so true,
She's always there, her love a steadfast view.
Her heart, an eternal flame, burning in delight,
Guiding us through shadows, with love's radiant light.
A mother's heart, a fortress, a love that's pure and sure,
An unbreakable connection, forever to endure.
Her presence, a refuge from life's every harm,
A love that's everlasting, in our hearts, a warm charm.

The Block Mayor
Like every warm day, Terrence is finishing this day on his L-shaped porch, sipping whisky from a dented flask. Cars pass by slowly, and he watches young women pushing babies in strollers; he hears the neighbors’ arguments and knows which have a regular income and those who are unemployed. Terrence is the self-appointed block mayor, laying judgment on his fellow folk.
