Eternal Dawn

A Poem

The large, white petals of the Saguaro cactus flower close up tight with the coming light; hiding its beauty away until the stars and moon are again within sight.

The verdin and the sparrow chirp and warble during the early morning hours; ending the silent stillness around the courtyard's fountain.

Pieces of dreams float through a somnolent mind; both symbols and strange imagery are left behind.

Why dabble in the musings of the subconscious's maze? When so glorious a prelude, the dawn is for the day.

*

The rhythm of this heart raises up in praise for the rays of growing light, poking through the gray clouds left from the storm at midnight.

Soft purples, pinks, and yellows painted across the morning sky; the colorful reflection upon a guardian angel's white wings. An eternal dawn watching, guiding, and comforting its appointed person.
