Enter the dark with your hands chained behind your back, emersed in the shady corridors between witnesses and bystanders to your decline.

Cover your eyes before the judge, who stands at the precipice of reason, blinding you to the truth of this charade:

Laws mean nothing to the elite. Gravity couldn't hold them accountable to your standards, your wandering morals of happenstance,

Initially bestowed upon you by the masters of your time, your money, your quality of life -

People with nothing better to do than to cast their shadows over your light, to obscure what could be brilliant, illuminating, everlasting -

Senseless slaughter for the glory of the golden eye,

Existential dread for the common lie.

Author's Note:

Went a little deeper ( and darker ) this time with the metaphors and theme for this entry into the acrostic poem challenge. I know the title alone is going to make people look twice. (:

It should be said that despite the state of the world today, I still believe in the hope of a better future.

I have been thinking along this line lately. Being temporarily in the UK. I see first hand the plenty of royalty and the rich. Yet the world burns for want from the masses. It should be getting better, this world.

Ooooooh. Me likey this. I love the almost clickbaity title haha. It drew me right in straight away and it's hard to ignore the crappiness of life and the systems in place. But, like you and Ms Deeming below I shall remain positive. Well done on a thought-provoking and very powerful take on this challenge!

Very powerful invective, Amanda. I like this very much and yes, I still remain optimistic for the future because there's people like us in it.
