Emerald

A poem about finding your strength

One day, Emerald, tired of tear-stained pillows

And her feelings always tossed from the windows

She decided to take her dreams out from the moonlight

Grow her wings and leave this nest by taking flight

Years of intangible chains had weakened her wings

Her desire for freedom tugged on her heartstrings

Shattered dreams scraped against her broken heart

From the monster who kept her, she wanted to part

His claws had ripped her strength from every bone

And poisoned every memory of times she’d flown

Never leave this nest, he had warned her for years

All that’s waiting for you is the sum of your fears

Emerald, took care and her wings began to grow

Confidence flooded her veins and started to flow

Under the golden sun, she spread her wings and flew

Leaving the nest of pain, with her future in gilded view
