I’m holding elections to my heart

It’s time for a leader of competency

of refresh and ceremony

Every four years

a new one comes

the votes run

.

Reinvent the old

with a mask of new

though no surprises

seem to come through

.

Nothing wrong with the one

that sits on the throne

it’s just time for a change

perhaps a new reign

of hope and disdain

.

impeached, then rejected
