Editor or Butcher?

There’s a tool for that

By Andrew C McDonaldPublished 11 months ago • 1 min read

Below is solely for comedic effect; still some of you may empathize with the content. 🧨

************************************

My editor’s last round of suggested changes

Covered quite the plethora of ranges

Didn’t like the characters, hated the plot

Said as is t’would never be bought

Wanted a whole new locale

Surely didst lower my vaunted morale

Perhaps the female mc should be smitten

Or her love interest be better written

I said if you hate it just plainly say so

I’ll just take my manuscript and go

He claimed it just needed minor suturing

To me it seemed more like massive butchering

You slice and hack off the sweetest tidbits

Whilst the author chews his nails and fidgets

Not sure if I’ll go back there in the future

Art thou truly editor or perhaps literary butcher?

Still I know what you need for Christmas

To satisfy this need to carve books so vicious

So I got him a penknife

To simplify his daily life

Now he can easily carve client’s words with ink

And rinse the best parts down the bloody damn sink
