Eden
Resigned to my lot,
as the man time forgot,
written off, or so I thought.
Like Saint Anthony to souls lost,
a warm front fractured permafrost.
We built Shangri-La atop barren lands
we tilled the soil with our bare hands.
Until the rainy season cast clouds upon Eden
and forbidden fruit eaten turned vestals to heathens.
Our fates were sealed once we gave in,
To temptations intrinsic since original sin.
Salted the soil Carthaginian,
ensuring nothing could ever grow there again.
Our fates were sealed once we gave in,
To temptations intrinsic since original sin.
Which side writes the history,
When neither one can claim the win?
