Echoes of A Vanished Love
Haunting tale of loss
In the hollows of my ribs, an ancient battleground lies,
Where veins once vibrant, now fray and compromise,
As taut ropes snapping, pleading for him to abide,
But he left, and my love's lush town withered and died.
His final lie, a devastating nuke, obliterated all in its wake,
Leaving behind a barren land, no life to partake.
In the dust of the wash, no one dares to swim,
Arid winds blow, and bone-dry moss, their fate grim.
The sun scalds the rock bed, tears no longer flow,
No solace, no respite, no drops of sorrow to bestow.
Once, jade land bore witness to lovers' bare feet,
And blue lilies were cherished, gentle and sweet,
But now, only pit-diggers wander the vast sand,
Seeking any form of solace, avoiding that man's brand.
Don't linger, don't lay in this desolate terrain,
For gazing upward brings only smog's dreary stain,
Better not to love me now, nor try to pretend,
The color of my world is lost, a vision we cannot mend.
Yet if you dare remain, amid ruins' decay,
Take up your hoe and rake, shape a new array,
When a bud emerges from the depths of despair,
Rain down upon it, nurture with love and care.
