Echoes of a Lost Decade

it wasn't worth it......

It's been almost a year now, since I broke free

From a friendship that wasn’t what it seemed to be.

We were "best friends" for nearly five years long

But now I see where it all went wrong.

The ties that bound us, once felt so tight

Have faded away into the silent night.

I don't miss the person, but the space they left

A void so deep, my heart feels bereft.

Empty and lonely, after such a stretch of time

Wondering if those years were truly mine.

I might be exaggerating, but it feels so real

Wishing to reclaim the time that life did steal.

The laughter we shared, the secrets we kept

Now seem like shadows where pain quietly crept.

Looking back, it feels like it wasn't worth the cost

Years invested, but what did I really lost?

The memories linger, like ghosts in my mind

Whispering regrets that are cruel and unkind.

I long to rewrite the chapters of the past

To fill the emptiness, to make something that lasts.

But here I stand, with lessons learned and scars

Chasing new dreams, reaching for distant stars.

Though the friendship is gone, I’ve found my own way

Healing and growing, with each passing day.

So here's to the future, where my strength will shine

No longer shackled by a friendship that wasn’t mine.

I’ll embrace the new, let go of the old

And in my own heart, find stories untold.
