Drifting on the Waves of Trepidation

a silent symphony of heartbreak draped in hues of anguish

anxiety kisses me goodnight

there's no revival this time

•grey is a feeling I feel every day

Hope flies far out of the window as

anxiety subtly creeps into my bed

tucks me in my linen blanket

I know it's here to stay.

It caresses my hair gently

pressing its palms against my cheeks

It makes home on the tip of my fingernails,

and settles in the iris of my eyes

Clinging on to bittersweet feelings

Hanging loosely from lofty ceilings

Somewhere between staring at the walls and

Gulping resent down my throat

Anxiety wraps me in its heavy embrace

Hope is draining the life out of me

convalescence is out of the question

remnants of repressed memories

imprinted with resentful nostalgia

every passing moment is like an axe

cutting through the soft tissues of balsam

making me want to disappear into a void

anxiety kisses me goodnight

there's no revival this time

About the Creator

Sidra Anjum

Stars, secrets whispered by ancient skies, each constellation, a saga in timeless guise,

I gaze upon the night with starlit eyes, in its celestial tapestry, my spirit forever lies.
