Dreams

A short poem

Crush your world up in your little spoon

Tighten your sleeve, don't shoot deep

Go hide yourself in the corner

And forget your well deserved sleep

*

Who really cares about tomorrow?

It doesn't shine as much as today

Who gives a f**k about what anybody thinks?

As long as they all stay away

*

So, take all your fears and your problems

And place them next to your alarm

Prepare yourself to turn it off

Because one of us needs to stay calm

*

Hey, no more, there are better places than the floor

I was there last week

When you've lost yourself in the middle of your dreams

You can always turn to me

*

Well, go on and feed you hunger

Let it course right through your veins

It will help you to forget some of the things you've said

It might even kill the pain

*

Come on, please talk to me

Tell me about your dreams

But what holds you back is that needy flesh

And no more blood to bleed

*

Then go on and keep it to yourself

God knows you need something more

Then the thrill it used to give you

An escape from your private war

*

Hey, do you enjoy, this pleasure that you employ?

A curse that rests on your body weak

Now that your mind is gone and your soul's all alone

What more could you possibly need?

*

So when you're drowning in the gutter

All hope washed away from your eyes

Another hit so true that it is all you can do

That you light it up with your lies

*

It's your smokey friend to the bitter end

It draws a little dance from your eyes

You try to blow it all away like yesterday

Because you don't give a f**k if you die

*

Frayed and sore, I find you lying on the floor

Your breath is fading and your pulse is weak

Your note says "Until I wake up into this world

Could you please hold onto me?"

*

Now that you've lost yourself in the middle of your dreams

I'm gonna hold on tightly
