What Comes Back

i catch my

breath

when i'm thinking of

you

a deep

hollow

hole

that your memory consumes

letting you go

as my love you breeze

through

seems

to be

burning your presence

deeper

into my soul

confidence

waines

as you

make a promise

these wounds

that you caused

will all heal

in time

the scars bring

new life

and

determination

you said

forever and swore

that

you'd

never leave

before me

i ponder

the cost of

healing

but now i wonder

what is

left

to believe

the butterflies

churn

as you stand

here

before me

my lips chapped

and weighted

as i bite

down

with my teeth

swirls of emotion

circle

around me

as you say that you love

me

the shadows return

doubt is the cloud

that is invasively

burning

spinning my head

and my

feelings

around
