All roads lead somewhere...
lost in the wilderness
with no stars to guide us
nor the light of the moon
is it a quilt covering earth
or a shroud hiding heaven
our direction can’t be discerned
as the river snakes
we only know the flow
an eastward heading
might lead north for miles
in the woods moss speaks
spilling secrets of the sun
aware of this path forward
we venture on in the darkness
what is that shriek
that breaks peaceful silence
it’s just the wind
chaotically organizing vibrations
come break of day
solar rays flicker
filtered through the trees
revealing the road
beneath those steady feet
as the realization comes
we were never
lost in the wilderness
