Don't Look Back

When it's over, it's over. Don't need to look back and see me cry.

I.

Don’t look back

to see the tears

in my eyes.

II.

You see me as the past

and not the future you

you want.

III.

But I’m the one

who shapes your memories.

And made you love like never before.

IV.

Don’t look back

if you forget.

V.

I’m the one

who journeyed

with you, above and beyond

the world you once knew

and gave you all of mine in return.

VI.

I’m not that pillar of salt.

I’m still here,

watching you walk away,

thinking there’s a better future

for you out there.

V.

Don’t look back

unless I’m that

destiny.

VI.

I can wait.

And wait I’ll do,

until I can’t wait

any longer.

VII.

My future awaits, too.

Even if you see me

as the past.

VIII.

And so separating

into uncertainty

is all we have left.

IX.

Just keep going

until you’ve found

what you’re looking for.

X.

Then, look back

when you realize

what you walked away from.

XI.

But don’t look back

if all you want

is to see the tears

in my eyes.
