Don’t Kiss Her… Then Come to Me

Don’t kiss her, then come to me,
Bringing borrowed memories.
I won’t wear another’s goodbye,
Or believe another lie.

Don’t speak my name with guilty lips,
Still tasting someone else’s kiss.
Love shouldn’t arrive second-hand,
With broken promises in its hands.

Don’t ask my heart to understand,
While hiding truths beneath the sand.
I’ve walked through fire far too long,
To settle now for something wrong.

Take your shadows somewhere else,
Don’t place them on my lonely shelf.
I’ve swept enough of yesterday,
To let another stain my way.

I deserve a love that’s clean,
Not haunted by where you have been.
A heart that chooses me alone,
Not one that’s searching for a home.

Don’t offer roses stripped of bloom,
Or perfume from another room.
I know the scent of borrowed fire,
It never feeds a true desire.

If she still lives inside your eyes,
Don’t cover truth with sweet disguise.
Go back to where your footsteps lead,
Don’t plant confusion like a seed.

When you can stand with honest grace,
And bring no ghost into this place,
Then maybe fate will set us free…
But don’t kiss her… then come to me.
