DON’T EVER HIT MY CHILD
If you do you will cease to breath

DON’T EVER HIT MY CHILD
You thought that I was helpless,
And wouldn’t make a sound,
But when you hurt my child,
My anger shook the ground.
I saw those little teardrops,
And heard them start to cry,
I held them close against me,
And told them I’d stay by.
You tried to make excuses,
And said you’d lost control,
But nothing gives you reason,
To hurt a child you hold.
I had forgiven plenty,
And stayed when I should go,
But hurting my own child then,
Was one thing you should know.
I packed their things together,
And took them from your door,
I promised them that evening,
You’d never hurt them more.
They held my hand so tightly,
And wouldn’t let me go,
I felt their little fingers,
Still trembling from the blow.
I told them they were safe now,
And none of it was theirs,
They didn’t cause your anger,
Or deserve those awful tears.
You thought that I’d stay silent,
The way I’d always been,
But when you hurt my child,
You saw the strength within.
