Don’t Forgive Me

Some things are not forgiven.

Don’t forgive me,

for

I won’t forgive you.

It’s easy to hate

than to heal the wounds

caused

by your poisoned memories.

They’re like daggers

plunged deep

into my heart.

They’re like festering wounds,

infected, throbbing

‘till it cripples

and keeps me down for days.

I had to strike

and strike I did.

To get that curse

out of my soul.

To get you out

of my head.

                My words reached deep,

and there I hope it stays.

For when you see me

you’ll turn away,

never forgiving me,

like I never will

forgive you.
