Do not be precious with me

To be loved is to be changed

Do not be precious with me

I don't want to sit on some shelf -

- preserved -

kept safe - waiting for the right time to be

used.

I want to be used up.

I want to be the bottle of paint you've squeezed every last drop out of.

Don't fear wasting me -

I was made to be destroyed.

-

I will inevitably leave this world -

and when I do I want to be broken into pieces -

tiny shards of who I once was.

One cannot make the mosaic

without first breaking the glass.

So please, my love -

crush me.

Grind me into shards.

-

Love me so hard I'll never be the same.

I want to look like the stuffed animal you've had since you were 6.

I want to see every wrinkle and impression you've left on me.

Every dirt stained inch of fabric.

Every missing button.

Every hug. Every kiss. Every touch.

I want it all.

-

I wasn't born to be kept behind glass -

I was born to be loved

And to love

That's why I use my good paints

I waste them all creating art no one might ever see.

Because the art is for me.

The art is me.

Love me so hard -

I'll never be the same.
