The Rainbow is Falling to Ash
Dream big, my mother had told me when I was young.
It’s a big world out there, only you can stand in your way.
Somewhere along the line, though, it all went wrong.
The chaos took over and the world started to burn.
Roe vs. Wade overturned; a woman’s own body ruled over by the state.
And suicide is up, racism is up, drug use is up, crime is up, terror is up.
Children do drills in case of school shootings, instead of eliminating guns.
Trans rights eradicated; ‘think of the children’; happiness fading to black.
Immigrants take boats to get a better life; to be turned away at the door.
Open your eyes, see the pain, the blood and corruption. It‘s everywhere.
No, I can’t dream big, when the rainbow is crumbling to ash.
