Distracted at the light
I'm sure many have come across someone like this
Diverted attention, clearly visible
In front swerving left and right
Serious attention should not be divisible
To others you’ll be a plight
Remember the basics, or did you forget?
All rules. Revise and reset
Caution whenever you set and respect
Trailing masses behind you upset
In queues they sit and lament
Oh this driver in front is so careless and dumb
Never mind, the green light is gone

Worth A Second Chance?
Clashing, crashing, the soul it baits Alive and awake at the pearly gates Wondering What happened with my life Stumbling Across others waiting for their fates Humbling - Living life, thoughtless vices on my mind running Shackles on my demons never worked, gotta live cunning Watching the queue moving up. How am I to speak When I face my judgement later. Gotta be released - Did I live how I should, not sure, but I could If I get a second chance, I know I gotta push - But reality got a hold of me Constant desires surrounding me Choking me Its hard being good in this world Gotta admit From left to right swirled Always conflict - Tried moving outta the neighbourhood But it pulls me back Like it’s got a bait and hook Attached on my back An easier life, can’t say black or white But living in the grey provided for them and I - Learning the ways to make a living Never knew I would take the living Slowly it consumed my soul and blackened To the point my mind died and mangled My morality, integrity and honour Personality changed, become a gunner Can I really change if I get a chance? Not sure In life, I never had a chance - What makes it different now Would I be different now Second chance. I’m begging now Would I really get it now? Now facing judgement for my life It gave me thought of strife Not sure I will survive Out there, with not a light I close my eyes and then Accept that I have sinned I Probably won’t repent So let it all just end

Clinging to Childhood
The playground is empty, as it should be past sundown. There is a warm breeze, and I can see everything despite the late hour. What time is it, anyway? It could very well be past midnight. I can never keep track of time, especially in the summer. A prickly piece of popcorn hides like a stowaway in the left cup of my padded training bra. I stuffed the tissue in last minute— a decision I’m beginning to regret, based on the events that are unfolding rapidly before me. To my left, laying non-chalantly on his back, is my date for the evening. He is two years older, could probably grow facial hair if he wanted to, and drives a secondhand Honda. He may as well be a Man. I, on the other hand, feel like a fraud with my too-short short-shorts, sparkly lip gloss, and makeshift push-up bra. I keep my arms pinned to my sides as I feel the dreaded circles of sweat beginning to manifest on my brand new Abercrombie top. I cup my elbows with my hands and stare down at my hint of cleavage, praying that the tissue doesn’t pop out like a white flag surrendouring my lack of womanhood.

Ahhh, such a great one, Mohammed!! Totally relatable! I rarely see anyone at a stoplight who isn’t distracted by their phone. It’s funny to watch, actually. The second the cars stop, everyone’s head looks down to the tiny screen vying for their attention. Great take on this!!! I’m struggling with the challenge- Lots of thoughts with no way to organize them 😂
