It feels as though there are oceans between us,

The waves rising

higher

and

higher,

creating a beautiful barrier between you and me.

The waves rage

as they mercilessly beat upon the shoreline.

The tides pull us opposite directions

as we struggle to swim close.

The distance is rough like the waters,

this concept of measurement that’s impossible to count,

time does not stop.

The oceans calm, the waves roll onto the shore,

and at once

we swim effortlessly to shore.

We meet again,

for waves don’t have power over us.
