Disquietude

Written by Huriell Jerome

I am afraid

Not at something as silly as pain

But something much more vengeful

I am afraid

Not at what can be taken

But at something i’ve never held

I am afraid

Not of love

But from the absence of

I am afraid

Of the unknown

For it has the ability to break me down

Entering a place of disbelief

Moving adrift in a world so vast

Not ever knowing how far the paths

I am afraid

For i do not know what comfort is

For i do not know what relief feels

I am afraid

That i might be too used to struggle

For i got used to discomfort

And unease

I no longer wish to be afraid
