Floating on air

hands skimming gold saffron

Nothing can be spared

beautiful assassins

Striking the blow

rusty blades piercing skin

Revealing the glow

of wounds never meant to mend

Empty casings, abandoned

scattered over the ground

Bodies are falling

never making a sound

Smiles hide broken teeth

spaces mimic the heart

Allowing colors to bleed

never masking the scars

Hollow strands of hair

golden locks of surprise

Cut away without care

teardrops pool in my eyes

Trading days of the week

to begin them again

Lost the words left to speak

still I try to pretend

Puzzle pieces might puzzle

completing the plan

Conversations are muzzled

tying together the hands

Of the clocks we were setting

so time doesn’t run out

Though we fail in forgetting

it’s way too late for that now
