Another conversation

Conducted through a screen

Sometimes it’s two people

Sometimes it’s ten

All constructing their speech as typed characters

Sharing their lives with an electronic world

So many people

Pouring their thoughts

Their minds

Their souls

Directly into a digital space

Laying themselves bare for an audience on the internet

Anyone can witness and judge

Intimacy is gone

Notoriety remains

How did humanity come to this?

A friendly hug

The joyous sound of laughter

The connection of gazing into another’s eyes

This is how we used to live

Where are we now?

We’ve forgotten what reality looks like

Everything and everyone has a filter

We are relentless in the pursuit of our digital dreams

Personality matters nought

Image matters all

Looking good and feeling good

They’re more important than doing good and being good

Communication

Morals

Compassion

Friendship

They’ve eroded away

Condensed into a stream of emojis and symbols
