Devotion

In a forbidden city that raved for defeat and downfall

yet not to destroy immortality dancing with dark ness,

tempting rhythms as obedience defying lyrics wail

and constricting hearts fight to not fall out from favor.

During youthful and bright hours of twenty and three

more enemies than fellows permeate unending views,

lifetimes traveled beyond after time's abrupt stop

that lengthens the pain the rage the tears and love .

An unattended birth and a vows exchange union

without ceremony surfaced from buried memory ,

giving life warms a chilled spine within a death grip

but no desire for the release when time moves again.
