What would you say
if I told you I love you?
As humans,
we love in so many ways.
I love your presence in my life.
I love the way you make me feel seen.
You make me feel less alone
in a world full of individuals.
But I hate when you feel so distant...
lost in the liminal spaces
between reactions and conversations.
I wonder where you are,
what you are doing,
who is on your mind
like you are on mine?
I love you.
Not for what you give to me,
but for what you offer.
Friendship.
Companionship.
A sounding board
for all the things I feel like
I can't say out loud…
but you hide under this shroud of mystery
that is so thick
I can't break through.
I wish I could get through to you.
You're one foot into the mortal coil,
and I don't want you
to leave me behind.
I love you,
for the unique soul you are.
My inner witch wants to shrink you down
and keep you in a jar
where I can have you at my beck and call
and make sure you never leave
this world at all.
But I don't want to capture you,
keep you like a pet.
I want to let you be free...
I just need you to see,
that I love you.
