Despair Behind

What lurks in the back

In my life I have always had to look forward.

Never had the chance to heal my woes.

Time passes but I leave behind lots.

Yet, I feel what lurks behind as it alters my behaviours.

My emotions in public are stolid,

My face somewhat blank,

Wearing the mask that I have to use.

Despair is behind me from my past, yet I will not look behind to see it.

I have to continue to look forward as life stops for no one.

Every time I want to look back, I get a feeling of panic,

Panic that rocks my joints and roots me to the spot.

I know you can not heal without addressing the past,

But life keeps moving, and we will all perish in the end

No matter what heavy burden we carry.
