Despair - An Acrostic

Despair is the absence of hope

Distant flames - entice in the wind - atop a frigid mountainside

Endless terrain - jagged and twisted - mark a strewn pathway toward it

Slippage a certain - destination for many - who trudge and toil in darkness

Perilously grip - at notches much higher - grappling with anticipatory success

Apparent and mounting - the effort to pass - becomes ever ‘Sisyphus-ic’ in nature

Inane is the notion - that reaching at last - the end may even be possible

Reality sets - as erroneous footing - leads to an absolute plummet.

falling… falling… falling…

Ensnared in crystal - frozen and cavernous - alone, out of sight, and forgotten

Platitudes surface - to the mind’s forefront - but fade as the encasing continues

Open at last - a moonbeam casts in - through a hole afforded by melt

Hoisting and stepping - into light among snow - to find a lone dahlia blooming.

Despair is absent with hope

Welcome! Thanks for reading my work!

I write all sorts of things, and I try to challenge myself regularly,

But I mostly enjoy jaunty humour and offbeat adventures in my writing.
