DESERT BLOSSOM

A flower gows from the earth
reaching for sunshine far above,
as butterflies dance carefree
flourising in beauty and love.
Kept aloft by a gentle breeze
waiting until the moment right,
not borne of lust and greed
happy simply to have flight.

Now as often in passing times
dreams seem to slip away,
replaced with hungry longing
made worse with games we play.
Such love exists in this world
given freely without regard,
more valuable than friendship
thought unable to discard.

Emerging forth from within
emotion borne out of desire,
confidenty in the belief
that love does still inspire.
Greater than can be imagined
an affair of heart and mind,
not seeming much in appearance
when viewed from behind.

Sometimes simply overlooked
because passion feels too extreme,
like a sentimental melody
you once heard in daydream.
A fairy tale without an end
more fantastic than life allows,
with actors waiting on the edge
for some kind of applause.

Existing despite the odds against
paradoxic when truth be found,
a mystery thought strange indeed
given there's no coomon ground.
Inspiring lovers to explore
beyond the shifting desert sands,
carried upon a gentle breeze
with scents of far off lands.

Where blossoms a yellow rose
growing straight and ever strong,
a source of untold beauty
that to one heart it can belong.
Existing for all the world
and lovers wherever they may live,
so their hearts might be uplifted
to accept what life does give.
