Definition of Joy

[For Two Voices]

By Kevin McClintockPublished 7 years ago 1 min read

Joy is defined by the limits of its way.

Sometimes silent, it still must have its say.

It is the alpha and the beta of all men’s lives—

these sometimes seek it in their wives,

who, having some, ransom exact. It

is that about which wicked witches whisper, seeking it

to strike it out. It is all love and sadness

rolled into a ball, to bowl us over, all.

It is: the definition of the boundless ways

to silence all the loneliness of days.
