Dec. 23 - Ode to the Children's Table
Poetry Advent Calendar
As a child, I remember with great glee being banished to the children's table. As I didn't often get to see my cousins, this was such great fun. We could horse around and talk about whatever we wanted without reproachful words or glances from the adults. And I loved it, when one year, my aunt - who was an adult - joined us at our table, preferring our company.

Ode to the Children's Table
It’s Christmas dinner once again, with glee
I take my place, like years’ past, the fringes
Sacred space for youth and immaturity
Need not worry about any messes
O! Wondrous world at the children’s table
Wiggly, wildly, not at all serious
And with no limit to our own glee, thus
We elves and imps most cheerful
Into cherished dishes dig, happily
So much fun we children have at Christmas
