dear future self
epistolary poem by zoe frenchman
dear future self,
i wonder where you’re at right now,
but i hope you’ve managed to learn how
to navigate the maze of complexities
and obliterate the craze of your maladies
i hope that you’re feeling content,
i hope that you savor every moment
i’m sure you’re doing just fine,
in fact, i’m sure you’ve crossed that line
i hope your partner respects all your needs
i hope you’ve eliminated all the weeds
that get in your way
and spread everyday
i hope you’re living out your dream
i hope your essence continues to gleam
i hope you’ve accepted every part of yourself
i hope your life is no longer a living hell
i know that you’re doing great things
i know that sometimes life stings
but you’re the strongest person that you know
and nothing shields your effortless glow
throughout your whole life,
despite the torrent of strife,
your mind has always been bright,
sometimes you’re wrong, sometimes you’re right,
sometimes it’s dark, sometimes there’s light,
sometimes it’s black, sometimes it’s white
but i hope that you’re balanced and i hope you feel joy
i hope that you no longer feel a need to destroy
anything good that comes to you
and there’s never a time when you won’t be true.
love you zoe,
20-year-old zoe;)
