Dear Friend

Uncommon Submission

By Briana MartiniPublished about a year ago 1 min read

How do we name it,

this thing we've done. Are doing.

Perhaps it's better to leave it wordless and

unknown, though even writing that is

ridiculous because we give words to it daily.

'Dear Friend' is old fashioned and too pale a

concept to capture:

The feeling of being held, and rocked

in a place that does little to hold and has

given up comfort long ago.

The closest we get to it is when we agree to

do it again

Walk with each other again, arms linked

laughing about a silly mistake that we

wouldn't admit to anyone else,

even ourselves,

without the other as witness.
