dear angel,
I’ll never forget that one last breath,
when your body succumbed to the clutches of death,
“I begged you to breathe” as I squeezed you tight,
I was desperate to cancel your angelic flight,
you donned your wings, away you flew,
how helpless I was, nothing I could do!
your ravaged body had run the test,
my soul assured me this was best,
so now through memories you live in my heart,
they’re all I have since death us did part.
sincerely, waiting

“Sincerely, waiting.” Ohh, I really love that. The grief you portray in a speaker so determined to be okay is very real to me. I felt similarly when my grandpa died. 💗
This was so incredibly touching and bittersweet. I could feel the pain and the relief and the longing. Beautifully penned, my friend :)
This pulled at the heartstrings...beautifully done!
I loved that. It seems strange trying to give positive feedback, when the subject is sad.
Wow! Everything came together so perfectly. Great read, Moe!
