Days Pass
Photo by Tyler Casey on Unsplash

I was in the middle of your life

We both know I have been

far and wide

awake while the world sleeps

Waging war on wisdom

Love is an untamed idea

The last frontier, the first cause

Miles and minutes of longing in between

You withdraw your warmth

I pull on a sweater

Days pass leaves fall

Like a freight train abandoned on the tracks

Looking broken

against a morning sky,

You shake the frame of mind

That harbours sleep

Restless birds hold me

as the

Light is painting itself

across a rough part of town

Like lipstick on a whore

Another

Half-hearted attempt to brighten the disappointment

And make festive the despair

sad poetry
