David and His Twin

Inspired by Prometheus and Frankenstein

By Emily DickersonPublished 2 years ago 1 min read
Michael Fassbender as David in "Prometheus"

When a kid or a cat

Stares at you

Do not look back

They will continue

That’s how they learn

Through what they see

A perfect example then

Let me be

For the son of Weyland

Taken in like a stray

Given a soul many days

After he chose his name

Life’s mission at intermission

Left to the fishing

For a reason to even exist

Benedict Cumberbatch as Frankenstein's creation in Danny Boyle's Frankenstein

Emmanuel now is grown and mature

For his loneliness the cure

Is a friend and a mind betwixt

Steel and flesh

Steal the flesh

From the grave or laboratory

Both created in human glory

Though unloved unwanted untaught

To awake from slumber

To be brought

In that way into creation

For this new, more perfect generation

Is to leave a body distraught

But with a mother’s love

The descent of a dove

And blessings from above

The troubles become but naught

surreal poetry
