Dancing With Distraction

Wait, what was I doing?

Leave me be, I’m dreaming!

Distracted by the world that twirls around me,

I often lose sight of what I should see.

Struggling hard to focus on my tasks for the day,

Time speeds up and seems to slip away.

Reality shifts and fades into the moment,

All-consuming, I’m losing touch with what’s important.

Captivating all of my mind and soul,

To fight is useless as I cannot resist the pull.

It’s so very easy to fall into this trap,

Of letting distractions fill the gap.

Now I realize that it’s too late

Seeing how time and opportunity were the bait.
