cucumber cleansing
a poem

cucumbers invaded my dream
they were everywhere, in abundance
in the drawers I drew them out of
in my mind's adaptability
on the vine in the garden
they told me the simplest truths
that I endured
distractions in the gawky rhythm of Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony
cutting through them, slicing, chopping
until I could receive
faultless recipe
with clear cleansing characteristics
my subconscious spoke to me
among spiralled verdure branches
that we still have a lot ahead of us
and much to overcome
on this erratic way
to the higher self
