Cowboy Epitaph
Farewell to a Dream Companion

It was here that I buried you,
on this high hill,
which you so longed for in life.
Here your spirit may look
to one side
upon the beautiful sea,
until it reaches the multi-colored
horizons of heaven.
To the other side,
at the foot of this hill,
Rests the small town that you loved;
where men were still cowboys,
walking with holsters on their hips
and six-shooters at their side.
It was here that we parted our ways,
my friend;
mine was to remain
in this sleepy town,
nestled at the foothills of humanity.
Yours was to tread the high ground,
overlooking eternity.
Farewell.

amazing poem, it was structured so well. I've always been a fan of the cowboy days.
The beautiful violent cowboy days. Every part of history has so many stories to tell. Lovely poem.
Oh, this is beautiful and so deeply emotional. Wonderfully done ❤️
