Two systems transferring energy between each other
They catch your eye
from across the room.
You look away,
careful not to betray
what you’ve already decided.
The shoes come off.
Only socks now.
Enough to feel exposed.
You begin to shuffle,
slowly,
letting friction
become anticipation.
Something unseen
gathers inside you.
A quiet charge
searching
for release.
Closer.
Closer.
One finger reaches—
holding
every possibility.
Will they laugh?
Will they pull away?
Will the sting
leave you both smiling?
The space between you
finally disappears.
Your finger
finds theirs.
…
No spark.
